Kode | When did you begin your style blog Kayture?

Kristina | It was a very spontaneous decision, I launched the blog when i was 17, in 2011. I’ve always been a very creative kid and when I met James the co-founder of my blog and then boyfriend/talented photographer, we’d take pictures after school. At the time I was modeling and it was the perfect contribution for my book. I grew really passionate about the artistic direction of our shoots so we started to create our own editorials and get a lot of attention from brands and fashion magazines.

Kode | Did you always feel like fashion would be your career path?

Kristina | I’ve always wanted to do music; I went to music school, was in a band, I always dreamt of doing something in the art world because I’m really creative. I had no idea my blog would become such a big part of my life. I always knew that i would do something linked to the art world but never knew exactly what it would be doing, but blogging embraces all of my passions.

You’ll hear more about it in the next couple of months. I’ve been in the studio with major producers recording for about 2 years. because music has always been my primary dream. I consider it my long term career, and ultimate dream. More than merging I want it to be an all encompassing entity. I’m not branching from blogging to music, music is what I’ve always wanted to do. It’ll be a really big step in my life. Bloggin has been such a big part of my life but music is beyond words a part of me.

Kode | What has been the most validating point in your career thus far?

Kristina | Delivering my speech at Oxford University has been a key moment of part of Kayture’s evolution. We were the first bloggers to ever speak there and to have this recognition was such a big deal because I decided no t to go to university and pursue blogging instead and that was a big risk at the time especially not knowing where blogging would lead us. Being able to speak in front of all these talent students was such a blessing I’ll never forget, including brilliant professors, and press coverage from the likes of vogue.

Kode | Encourage fashion bloggers?

Kristina | The best advice I can give is to concentrate on your quality content, aesthetic and avoid comparing yourself to others. The market is so saturated it can be easy to aspire to someone’s style or mimic someones content. What’s needed right now is for bloggers to create your own thing, have your own message, and be your unique yourself. Being relevant and knowledge about the things that you say in your text. Be aware that when you’re blogging you’re not just blogging for yourself but also for your readers so the most info you can provide is great.

Kode | How did you find your personal style?

Kristina | Sticking to my gut and following what I believe in. Not being easily influenced by what anybody wants me to wear like magazines and trends. For expalmpe when I was in high school i was very conservative and was scared to take my own risks. Growing up a creative soul I felt bad, I wasn’t following my desire to embrace fashion. Creating yourself can be tricky if you’re still finding yourself but fashion is a beautiful way to express yourself. Fashion should be something that you enjoy and handle as a creative expression to get to know yourself better. Style is ever evolving so figuring yourself out is like a game.

Kode | Who inspires you?

Kristina | Audrey Hepburn, Bridget Bardot, Jane Birkin, they’ve inspired millions of women and their style is so elegant and timeless. I think thats what we all can aspire to when we buy an article of clothing, we want to see ourselves wear it for a few years not just for a season. Their styles are still credible to this day. All of my pieces revolve around the notion of elegance. Being womanly and effortless at the same time, casual chic. Being in Europe also influences me a lot. The way the woman dress here strikes as naturally beautiful. I take inspiration in all around me.

Kode | What’s next for Kayture:

Kristina | Nothing in particular except for my music which people should keep their eyes open for because it’s coming soon. It’s been a long time that I’ve been working on and I’m so excited about it. It’ll be a big step in my career as it’s been such a big part of my life. Once it’s launched my readers will understand how important it is. When it does come out I want it to be huge -- I can’t talk too much about my style because it’s a surprise, but it’s very eclectic and unexpected, it has a lot of different flavors for sure.
